The Studentenwerk Leipzig is launching a brand-new Progressive Web App (PWA) that will make your daily life easier! But what exactly is a PWA, and why is it so convenient for you?
What is a Progressive Web App (PWA)?
A PWA is a blend of a website and an app. You can use it without having to download anything. Just open our website through the browser and add it as an icon to your home screen with one click. This saves storage space compared to traditional apps while still providing the benefits of an app. The PWA even works offline by caching content locally. This means that even if you don’t have a network connection, you can still access important information.
What does the PWA offer you?
With the PWA you only get the infos that matter to you. It is designed to make your everyday life easier and offers you personalised functions:
- Menu of your favorite Mensa: Create a shortcut directly to the menu of your favourite Mensa, mark your favourite dishes and receive push notifications when your favourite food is available again.
- Push notifications: Get important information sent directly to your phone – for example, reminders about events, your favorite dish in the Mensa, or important updates from the student services. Of course, only if you agree.
- Plan your Mensa date: Easily invite your friends via messenger and make plans to meet for a meal at the Mensa.
- Events & Workshops: Keep track of all important dates and events from the student services and import them directly into your calendar.
- Watchlist: Organize important information, events, or contacts in your personal favorites list.
- Save contacts: Store important contacts, such as your BAföG counsellor or other key contacts, in your watchlist for quick access.
