Welcome to winter semester 2022/23!
The Studentenwerk Leipzig welcomes all new students and returning students for the winter semester 2022/23!
For most of our counselling services, students can choose between face-to-face appointments with prior booking and video or telephone counselling. For face-to-face appointments, students are still asked to wear a medical mask and to cancel an appointment if they have cold symptoms.
Current information about our offers
Mensas & Cafeterias
Since the summer semester, our Mensas and Cafeterias have been open again at the usual times before the Corona pandemic, with a full range of offers and 100% seating capacity. The self-service counters (salad & pasta) have also reopened since then. We continue to offer the newly introduced option to take away food and drinks.
The obligation to wear a mask (medical mouth-nose protection or FFP2 respirator mask without exhalation valve or comparable respiratory protection) up to the seat remains. If possible, a distance of 1.50 m from other persons should be maintained. Payment is still only possible with a valid student or staff ID or the canteen card. TIP: In October and November, an information stand will be touring the Mensas, at which registration for AutoLoad is possible. The dates can be found in the overview message. Cash payment is not possible.
The exact opening hours of each Mensa and Cafeteria can be found on the page of the respective facility.
At the moment there is a very high demand for hall of residences. All applications will be considered in the waiting list procedure at the next availability of free rooms. Please note that enquiries about the status of the application or the ranking on the waiting list cannot be answered.
We also ask you to make parallel efforts to find alternative accommodation on the private housing market in the area of the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsbund (MDV) tariff zone.
If you still have questions about the student halls of residence: A hotline is still open until 14 October, Monday to Friday 9-11 am on +49 341 9659 880.

The Social Counselling Service offers face-to-face appointments and telephone consultations without an appointment (information on the Social Counselling Service page). Information events for students are still primarily offered online.
The Psychosocial Counselling Service offers individual counselling in person, by telephone or by video. Please get an overview on the Psychosocial Counselling page or directly in the appointment booking tool. Group offers are still primarily digital.
International students can find information about our various offers on our pages. Our tutors will again be offering various events in the winter semester to get to know other students as well as Leipzig and the surrounding area. An information event will be held for prospective refugee students on 21 November 2022.
The job office offers counselling with prior booking of appointments. The job placement process continues to take place online, as the digital form has proven itself. For data protection reasons, it is no longer possible to activate the profile by e-mail.
Do-It-Yourself Bicycle Repair Shops
There are three self-help shops for students, which are financed by the mobility fund. There, students can repair their bikes themselves free of charge. The bicycle self-help shops are open. For more information, please check the page for bicyclists.
We promote student culture! The financial resources are awarded upon application. Please inform yourself first on our pages on cultural funding. The next cultural committee will take place on 17 October 2022.
