“Urban Mutualism” is the theme of the new photo exhibition

Martin Meffert’s new photo exhibition invites you to take a unique look at urban life in two of the world’s most fascinating metropolises.

Martin Meffert, who has been living and studying in Leipzig since 2018, discovered his passion for photography in the same year. In addition to his digital work, he has developed a special preference for film photography with analog cameras in recent years. This exhibition shows works taken during two trips: in October 2023 in New York City (floor 1) and in October 2024 in Tokyo (floor 2).

The photographs on display capture isolated yet significant moments of people in their urban environment. Each moment tells a story of the interplay between people and their surroundings and allows us to observe the essence of these cities almost microscopically. The images invite us to reflect on the relationship between human and city and to embark on a journey through the substance of two cultural centers.

The exhibition can be seen until the end of March 2025 in the corridors on the first and the second floor of the Studentenwerk Leipzig (Goethestr. 6).

You want to organise an own photo exhibition?

Students who would like to present their photographs in an exhibition can apply to Studentenwerk Leipzig. The theme can be chosen freely. 24 frames of 59.4 x 84 cm can be used. The exhibition spaces are located in the corridors on the first and the second floor of Goethestraße 6, usually the photographs are shown for two months.

The exhibitions are financed by Cultural Funding from the Studentenwerk.

It is important that the student photographers are enrolled in one of the universities that belong to the Studentenwerk Leipzig’s area of responsibility during the exhibition period.
