Temporary tickets for international students/Mensa & MDV

International students can get a temporary ticket for student restaurants and a temporary semester ticket for public transportation at the start of the 2021/22 winter semester.

International students at the University of Leipzig who do not yet have a UniCard at the start of the semester can get a temporary ticket for student restaurants from the Studierenden Service Zentrum from 16 September 2021, and a temporary semester ticket from 27 September 2021.

• Use the temporary card for the student restaurants and cafeterias for cashless payment in our Mensas and Cafeterias until you receive your UniCard – at the latest until 30 November 2021, after that only the UniCard is valid.
• To pick it up at the SSZ, bring your enrollment certificate and a photo ID!
• You can use the temporary semester ticket for the MDV on all routes and all buses and trains of the Mitteldeutscher Verkehrsverbund (MDV) at the latest until 31 October 2021, after which date only the UniCard will be valid. A photo ID and the certificate of enrollment must be carried and shown during inspections.
• Only newly enrolled international students at Leipzig University who cannot yet use their UniCard on October 1, 2021, will receive the temporary card and the temporary semester ticket.
• The return of the temporary card for the Mensa also takes place at the SSZ. When returning the card, the UniCard must be brought along so that any remaining credit can be transferred.

As of 1 November 2021, the temporary semester ticket is no longer valid, only the UniCard will be valid! Information on the MDV semester ticket are available on our Semester Ticket page.
