Since mid-September, Leipzig students have been able to call up their Deutschland-Semesterticket for the winter semester 2024/25 and thus be mobile on public transport throughout Germany. To ensure that the ticket remains so affordable, we are calling for the price of the Deutschland-Semesterticket for students to remain stable.
Like our umbrella organization, the Deutsches Studierendenwerk (DSW), and the freie zusammenschluss von student*innenschaften (fzs), we are in favor of decoupling the Deutschland-Semesterticket from the price of the regular Deutschlandticket and setting an upper limit based on the living conditions of students.
At present, the price of the Deutschland-Semesterticket is 60 percent of the regular Deutschlandticket. The Conference of Transport Ministers assumes that there will be a price increase for the Deutschlandticket next year. This means that the Deutschland-Semesterticket for students could then also become more expensive.
Matthias Anbuhl, Chairman of the DSW Executive Board, explains: “The aim is to secure student mobility in the long term, and this includes first and foremost a permanently socially acceptable, student-friendly price for the Deutschland-Semesterticket for students.” We also give this demand top priority and are committed to achieving it with all the means at our disposal.
