Semesterticket applies as 9-Euro-Ticket

Students do not have to buy a 9-Euro ticket. The semester ticket is considered an equivalent ticket.

In the months of June, July and August, the student ID card or semester ticket is equated with the 9-Euro-Ticket and is valid nationwide for the entire period as a ticket on all means of public transport (RB, RE, U-Bahn, S-Bahn, bus, tram, etc.).

Therefore, students do not need to buy a separate 9-Euro ticket!

Tickets for public transport are checked visually in combination with an official photo ID. We therefore ask all students to check whether their student ID is currently valid and whether all details are clearly visible.

We are in close contact with the Leipzig universities and the public transport companies to clarify how the price of the semester ticket can be reduced to 9 euros (gross) during the campaign period. The introduction of the ticket could possibly reduce the semester ticket fee to be paid for the winter semester 2022/23.

We therefore ask all students not to re-register for the winter semester 2022/23 immediately at the beginning of the re-registration period, but to wait for this clarification.

The bicycle transport regulation for students continues to apply only in the contractually agreed tariff zones (MDV area).
