Preparatory German class for refugees at Leipzig University

Refugees who want to study at the University of Leipzig can take part in preparatory German classes free of charge before they start studying. Applications are accepted until October 30.

Starting in January 2022, the University of Leipzig will offer a German language class for refugees who want to start studying at Leipzig University. The language classes are free of charge and will take six to nine months. Participants graduate with the German Language Examination for University Entrance (DSH). Applications will be accepted until 30 October 2021.

Required for participation:

  • Direct access to higher education (through university entrance qualification or a degree abroad)
  • German language skills on level B1 or proof of participation in 500 hours of German classes
  • A specific wish to study at the University of Leipzig
  • Refugee status

In order to apply free of charge, interested persons must upload a confirmation that they were counseled by the International Center to the my.uni-assist portal. Interested parties can obtain this confirmation by sending a copy of their residence title and the degree program they want to attend by e-mail to refugees.study@uni-leipzig.
