The last photo exhibition in this year is devoted to portraits – but with an unconventional approach.
Therese von Alten, who studies political science and Arabic studies at the University of Leipzig, is starting a special experiment with her current photo exhibition: She shows only partial portraits and deliberately leaves out the faces of the portrayed or shows them only from the side. "What happens when pictures omit faces or show only parts of them," asks the photographer in her exhibition. "Does one invent a suitable face, fill the gap in one's mind? Do we recognize the person anyway?"
If you want to answer those questions for yourself, the photographs will be on display in November and December in the corridors of the 1st and 2nd floors of the Studentenwerk Leipzig (Goethestr. 6). They can be visited during our usual office hours.
