We are happy to announce the start of service of four new bicycle repair stations. The stations are located at the different facilities of the Leipzig University and are from now on available for all Leipzig students. You can use them for minor repairs as they contain a total of twelve different tools, including Allen keys, tyre levers, pliers, spanners and an air pump. The idea to set up these stations was initiated by students. Three of the stations are located in central sites: in front of the Faculty of Physics and Earth System Sciences in Linnéstraße (still under construction), on the Jahnallee campus opposite from the Studentenwerks Mensa and in Universitätsstraße in front of the seminar building. At the stations you will find QR codes with helpful video instructions for common repairs.
The realisation of these bicycle repair stations is thanks to the Semester Ticket Committee of Studentenwerk Leipzig. This committee is made up of representatives from the student councils of Leipzig’s universities and the Studentenwerk and decided last year to fund up to four stations in the city. The first station was installed at HTWK Leipzig already in summer 2023. It will be financed by semester fees from the Mobility Fund of Studentenwerk Leipzig.
An additional repair station can be found at the site at Ritterhofstraße, which is available in particular to employees of the central administration, the institutes located there and the Studentenwerk. The project was realised in cooperation between the Leipzig University Student Council and the Studentenwerk and is financed by the Rectorate’s Sustainability Commission.
