Students who use a Mensa children card for their children should renew it as soon as possible. Cards that are not extended will be blocked from 7 April 2025. If the card is cancelled, you will have to pay for the meals yourself – a refund will not be possible at a later date.
How to extend the card:
- Proof of student status: Proof of current student status must be submitted to the social counselling service every semester. To do this, the enrolment certificate (with the numbers on the back) must be sent by email to sozialberatung@studentenwerk-leipzig.de.
Further important information on the Mensa children’s card:
- Validity of the card: Each Mensa children’s card is linked to one child and entitles the holder to one free hot meal per day and child. The offer applies to children’s meals in the canteens.
- Entitlement to children’s plates: A parent must eat either a main course or two side dishes or a salad plate in order to receive a free meal for each child. Example: A mother with three children needs three Mensa children cards for three children’s plates.
- Excluded are: Salads, desserts and the cafeteria range.
Important: From 7 April 2025, there will be no more free meals for children without an extension!
