Bye bye disposable Cups

Paper cups with black lids on light grey background.

We are taking another step towards sustainability in our cafeterias. Having already switched from plastic to paper from sustainable forestry (PFSC) for disposable cups, we are now getting rid of them completely – saving around 9.500 disposable cups per month during the lecture period.

We have already done this in the Mensaria am Botanischen Garten, the Cafeteria Dittrichring, the Cafeteria Academica, the Cafeteria am Medizincampus, the Cafeteria am Elsterbecken, the Mensa Petersteinweg and the Cafeteria an den Tierkliniken. In the Cafeteria am Park, the time has come now. Only the Cafeteria in the Musikviertel will continue to use disposable cups. There we are still looking for a good solution without disposable cups.

Guests now have these options for their hot drinks

If you want to drink your coffee or tea on site, simply take a ceramic cup from the Cafeteria. For to go, we either offer the free Relevo reusable system or you can bring your own cup from home.

You can find out what else we value in our facilities when it comes to sustainability on the page on sustainability in our Mensas and Cafeterias.
