Negotiations are currently underway for the 2025/26 double budget of the Free State of Saxony. While teaching staff and university employees are to be spared cuts, the future of state subsidies for the Studentenwerke is uncertain.
Many students in Saxony are struggling with financial difficulties, while rising costs are further exacerbating the situation. Reliable funding is needed so that the Studentenwerke can continue to support you with affordable housing, affordable canteens and important counselling services.
Together with the three other Studentenwerke in Saxony, we are advocating for stable funding and are in dialogue with the Ministry of Science and members of the state parliament.
But you can also take action: The Konferenz Sächsischer Studierendenschaften (KSS) has launched the petition #StudentenwerkeRetten, which calls for a needs-based increase in subsidies for the student unions, fair compensation for inflation and a cap and long-term reduction in semester fees.
